ELIGIBILITY: To enter the Contest and be eligible to win a Prize, a person (“Entrant”) must be, at the time of entry into the Contest: (a) an individual legal resident of Canada, (b) located in Canada, excluding Quebec (c) of the age of majority in his/her province or territory of residence, and (d) have internet access and a Twitter account. Employees, officers, and directors (including immediate family members and members of the same household of such persons whether related or not) of Ride for Karen, (the “Sponsor”.), its affiliates, agents, advertising or promotional agencies and prize suppliers are not eligible to enter the Contest. For these Official Rules, “immediate family” means mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter and spouse, including common law spouse, regardless of where they reside. The Sponsor shall have the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate in the Contest. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to the Sponsor for the purpose of the Contest must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any entrant should such an entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information.

HOW TO ENTER: No Purchase Necessary. To participate, you will need to create a Twitter account if you don’t already have one. Membership on Twitter is free, and registration for Twitter can be obtained by logging on to www.twitter.com (the “Twitter website”) and following the on-screen instructions to open an account.
To enter the Contest from your Twitter account, search for the Sponsor official Twitter account @RideForKaren. A copy of the Official Rules for this Contest will be available within the Sponsor profile. All Tweets must comply with the Twitter Terms of Service and Twitter Rules available at www.twitter.com. By following @RideForKaren and sending your Tweet you agree to these Official Rules including but not limited to the Sponsor right to re-tweet any Tweet received during the Contest Period. Remember Twitter is a public space. Only the first Tweet from any entrant on the designed days (the “Contest Days”) will count toward an entry for the specific prize draw. Each Tweet must be the individual’s original and unique Tweet. Entrants cannot re-Tweet another person’s Tweet.
Important note: If his/her Twitter account is set to “protected mode” the Tweet and/or responses may not be visible in the Sponsor’s inbox and may not thus be received by the Sponsor unless you previously consented to permit the Sponsor to see your Tweet and/or responses.
There will be weekly prizes awarded each Tuesday during the Contest Period, except for Tuesday, July 1, 2014 where the weekly prize will be awarded on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Entrants will be required to tweet about their weekend bicycle ride and/or training. The tweet may contain a photograph but tweets that do not contain photographs will also be counted as an entry into the contest. To be eligible for the weekly draw each Tuesday, entrants’ first Tweet of the day on all or any of the preceeding Saturday, Sunday or Monday (plus Tuesday, July 1, 2014) will be counted. Only the first Tweet from an entrant on each of the designed days (Saturday, Sunday or Monday) will count as an entry for the Weekly Prize. Weekly bike ride and/or training Tweets must be received between 05:00:00 on the Saturday and 11:59:59 PM (ET) on the Monday in order to receive an entry for the Tuesday weekly draw. To enter, entrants will be required to Tweet their weekend bike ride and/or training in 120 characters or less in English or French. Entrant’s Tweet must include “@RideForKaren” with the hash tag #TrainingTweet so that your entry appears in the Sponsor mention tab.
RULES REGARDING PHOTOGRAPHS: Photographs must not violate the rights of any third party. For example, your photograph must not defame, infringe or violate publicity or privacy rights of any other person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any other person’s, entity’s or organization’s personal or proprietary rights, including but not limited to, intellectual property rights (if a photograph has been taken in a public location you must ensure that if a corporate sign or name appears in your photograph that you have the rights from the location to release this photograph to this Contest, where the photograph will be viewed by the public); the photograph must be in “good taste” and in keeping with Sponsor’s brand image and must not be explicit or offensive, as determined by the Sponsor or its moderator, in its or their sole and absolute discretion; and, (5) must not contain any commercial content that promotes any product or service other than those offered by Sponsor. Your right to submit a photograph must not be restricted in any way. Sponsor’s right to re-Tweet and/or use the photograph shall not be restricted. You must be able to provide legal releases for unrestricted use of any photograph that includes a third party’s name, likenesses, or work (“Third Party Elements”) in a form satisfactory to Sponsor at the time of notification.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
It is recommended that entrants become a “follower” of @RideForKaren (the “Follower(s)”) to ensure he/she will receive notifications from the Sponsor. For example if an entrant should be selected as an eligible entrant, eligible entrant’s notifications will be sent via Direct Message within Twitter and as defined below. To become a Follower, from his/her Twitter home page, click on the “Find People” tab and perform a search for “RideForKaren”; and click on the “Follow” button corresponding to @RideForKaren. Any Tweet that does not follow the above format will be discarded and will not be eligible for entry in this Contest. It is recommended that entrants do not stop following @RideForKaren for a minimum of two (2) weeks after the Contest Closing Date.SUITABILITY FOR PUBLICATION: The Sponsor, reserves the right to reject any Tweet or photograph if in the sole opinion of the Sponsor acting in its absolute discretion, the Tweet or photograph would be inappropriate, dangerous or would violate or offend any law, regulation, order, governmental policy, public policy or third party’s rights or could potentially expose the Sponsor to law suits, (for example by containing any commercial content that promotes any product or service other than those of the Sponsor), embarrassment, contempt, ridicule, or adverse publicity or otherwise reflect unfavourably on the Sponsor or any of its products or services.
Incorrect and/or incomplete Tweets and Tweets received after the Contest Closing Date, and/or Tweets that contain obscene, offensive, or any language or imagery communicating messages inconsistent with the positive images with which the Sponsor wishes to associate itself (all as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion) will be void.
By entering the Contest and submitting a Tweet and/or photograph, each entrant: (i) grants to the Sponsor, in perpetuity, a non-exclusive license to Re-Tweet, publish, display, reproduce, modify, edit or otherwise use his/her Tweet and/or photograph, in whole or in part, for advertising or promoting the Contest or for any other reason; (ii) waives all moral rights in and to his/her Tweet in favour of the Sponsor; and (iii) agrees to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates (including, without limitation, its parent, sister and subsidiary companies), advertising and promotional agencies, suppliers of materials or services related to the Contest and all of their respective shareholders, directors, officers, employees and agents from and against any and all claims based on publicity rights, defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright infringement, trade-mark infringement or any other intellectual property related cause of action that relate in any way to the Tweet.
If you opt to use Twitter via your wireless mobile device (which may only be available via participating wireless carriers and is not required to enter the Contest), standard text messaging and/or data rates may apply for each message sent or photograph sent or received from your handset according to the terms and conditions of your services agreement with your wireless carrier. Other charges may apply (such as normal airtime and carrier charges) and may appear on your mobile phone bill or be deducted from your prepaid account balance. Wireless carriers’ rate plans may vary, and you should contact your wireless carrier for more information on messaging rate plans or data plans and charges relating to your participation in this Contest. Participation in this Contest by mobile device means that you understand that you may receive additional messages by mobile device relating to this Contest, including notifying you if you are the potential Prize winner, which may be subject to charges pursuant to your carrier’s rate plan. LIMIT OF NUMBER OF ENTRIES: A person may only use one (1) Twitter account to participate in the Contest, and such Twitter account may only be used by one (1) person regardless of whether the Twitter account is shared by two (2) or more people. A person may Tweet more than once per Day however only the first Tweet each day during the Contest Period will count as an entry into the Contest. Any person who is found to have entered the Contest with more than one (1) Twitter account will be disqualified and all such entries received by such person during the Contest Period will be disqualified, and all prizes won may be forfeited in the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Proof that the winner is the authorized Twitter account holder may be required. Proof of transmission (screenshots or captures etc) does not constitute proof of delivery. Entries generated by script, macro, robotic, programmed, or any other automated means are prohibited and will be disqualified. The Sponsor will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, falsified, damaged, misdirected, mutilated, garbled or incomplete entries, which will be void. All entries become the property of the Sponsor upon receipt and none will be returned.

PRIZES: A total of twenty-three (23) prizes (individually referred to as a “Prize” and collectively referred to as “Prizes”) are available to be won during the Contest Period. All prizes will be selected by the Sponsor at its sole and absolute discretion. Sporting event tickets must be used on the dates specified and cannot be exchanged for another date, for cash or otherwise. Gift cards are subject to the terms and conditions imposed by the issuer. The gift card cannot be exchanged for cash or otherwise. If a purchase exceeds the value of the gift card, the winner will be responsible for any amount due that exceeds the value of the gift card (or the available balance at the time of purchase), including any applicable taxes. If any purchase does not exceed the gift card value, subject to applicable law, the remaining available balance will not be paid in cash to the winner but will remain on the gift card. Other prizes, including but not limited to cycling clothing, bicycle parts or other prizes, cannot be exchanged for another size, cash or otherwise.
Prize Limits: A person may win one prize during each weekly Contest Period. All Prizes must be accepted as awarded without substitution and are not transferable and have no cash surrender value. The Sponsor reserves the right, in the event that any Prize or any component of a Prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason, to substitute a similar Prize or component of the Prize of equal or greater value without liability.
- DRAWS:
A random draw will be made by Paradigm Public Relations Inc. in Toronto, ON at 2:00 PM (ET) on each Tuesday during the Contest Period, except where specified otherwise, to select one entrant from all eligible Tweets received between 05:00:00 on the preceeding Saturday and 11:59:59 PM (ET) on the preceeding Monday. Odds of winning the Prize depend on the total number of eligible Tweets received between 05:00:00 on the preceeding Saturday and 11:59:59 PM (ET) on the preceeding Monday.
- PRIZE NOTIFICATION: Each selected entrants for a weekly Prize will be notified using the direct message feature on Twitter. The eligible Entry Tweet account will be sent a direct message within one (1) business day of the prize draws. Each selected entrant must respond within four (4) business days according to the instructions in the notification, or he/she will be disqualified without any liability to the Sponsor, and his/her entitlement to receive the Prize will be forfeited and alternate eligible entrant will be randomly selected from among the remaining eligible entries for each specific Weekly Prize. If a selected entrant is not a Follower, then the selected entrant will have to become a Follower (so that the Sponsor will be able to send a private direct message via Twitter) within the time stated in the Sponsor’s submission of an @Reply to the selected entrant or the independent contest organization may disqualify the selected entrant in its sole discretion. It is each entrant’s responsibility to set his or her account settings to accept contacts by the Sponsor and to timely check his or her Twitter account for any such direct messages or @Replies. The above process will be repeated until such time as contact is made with seventeen (17) selected entrants or there are no more eligible entrants available for each specific draw.

ACCEPTING DELIVERY OF A TWEET PRIZE: By accepting delivery of a Prize, the Prize Winner confirms compliance with the Official Rules, acknowledges that the Prize must be accepted as awarded and cannot be substituted or transferred and has no cash surrender value, releases the Sponsor, its affiliated and related companies, advertising and promotional agencies, prize suppliers and their respective shareholders, directors, officers, employees and agents, successors (collectively the “Releasees”) and assigns, from and against all liability in connection with the Contest and the awarding and use of the Prize, and consents to the use of his/her name, address (city and province) and/or photographs, without further remuneration, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor with respect to this Contest. Prizes will be sent by mail within 30 days of the Contest Closing Date.

Without limitation, the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies will not be liable for any failure of the web site during the Contest; for any technical malfunction or other problems relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; for the failure of any entry to be received by the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies for any reason including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website; or any combination of the above. Further, the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies and the independent contest organization will not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading any material in the Contest.

The Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw or amend this Contest in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Official Rules. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. Void where prohibited by law. The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal, including, without limitation, any decisions regarding the eligibility/disqualification of entries.

In the event of a dispute, Tweets will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the Twitter account submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the person who is assigned a Twitter account by www.Twitter.com. Selected entrants may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the Twitter account associated with the selected Tweet. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of a valid on line entry in this Contest will be the contest server machine(s).

The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error or any kind without prior notice or obligation. In the event, due to a printing or production error, more than the advertised number of prizes are claimed there will be a random draw conducted amongst all eligible prize claimants to award the correct number of prizes after the Contest Closing Date.

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including, but not limited to: the Contest entry form, and/or point of sale, television, print or online advertising; the terms and conditions of these Rules shall prevail, govern and control.
